Crushed Stone

Ha.

What?

Ha.

What is it?

Haaalf.

Half what?

Half inch.

Half inch?

Half inch die…

Half inch die?

Half inch diameter.

I see, half inch diameter. Which?

Half inch diameter crushed stone.

In front of us is a bed of gravel, or to be precise, half inch diameter crushed stone.

I pick up a handful and we look at it.

Half inch diameter. Crushed stone.

On the way back to the ward we observe and discuss other forms of rock, such as the two inch diameter rounded river stone.

And is that a big rock or would we call it a boulder?

We conclude that if a man can move it with a crowbar it is a big rock, but if you need a machine, that’s a boulder.
