Can I Hold You

This is one of those times that my various worlds overlap. This takes the form of a song I wrote and sang in my other life as Uncle Jon, the Singer Song Writer.

The phrase kept coming to me, “Tell me what I told you.” I don’t know if my guy actually ever said it.

Below the audio are the lyrics.

Can’t remember, can’t remember
Please tell me what I told you
I am scared, I am lonely
Like you held me can I hold you?

I can feel it creeping in me
Growing here within me
Less of me the more it grows
Now I’m lost inside my clothes

Every day I check to see
How much is left of me
Can I still get up and walk?
If I need to can I talk?

Can’t remember, can’t remember
Please tell me what I told you
I am scared, I am lonely
Like you held me can I hold you?

How do I seem to you?
Am I dying am I through?
Is your vigil nearly done?
I know this isn’t fun

I know we can not say it
Not to wish it not to pray it
But we cannot both pretend
We’re not wishing for the end

Can’t remember, can’t remember
Please tell me what I told you
I am scared, I am lonely
Like you held me can I hold you?

Can’t remember, can’t remember
Please tell me what I told you
I am scared, I am lonely
Like you held me can I hold you?
